GALLERY OF TIMBER FRAMED HOMES
Technical
data
The advantages of Timber Framed buildings over traditional brick homes include:
· Fast assembly
· Construction can be done in winter
· Minimal number of wet processes
· Buildings are ecologically friendly
· Reduced on site storage for equipment, in view of quick assembly time
· Reduced waiting time for client to take charge of the building
On site assembly is straight from the truck using a crane. A Timber framed house of
average size fits into two trucks and can be assembled within a week. During
assembly, modern anti corrosion materials, such as galvanized fixing elements,
wood screws and anchors (for anchoring the building to the foundation) are used.
These help limit the effects of corrosion and give the structure a longer
lifespan.
The schedule for each construction is fixed by a contract between the client and
Baltic Homes Ltd. The customer takes responsibility for site preparation, i.e.
ground works and foundation. Foundations for a Timber Frame house are usually much
simpler than a brick home but do depend on the design of the building. They only
become more complicated if a cellar is required, or if the water table is high.
In the case of a high water table, drilled pile foundations can be used.
Installation of utilities such as telephone lines, water pipes, etc are laid
underground according to the project specification and the local networks. Once
the foundations have been prepared, delivery of interior and exterior wall,
ceiling and roof panels can be arranged. On site assembly of the house can then
start.
